In the world of crossovers, this year's auto watchers have drooling eyes over two gems from the 2021 lineup: the 2021 Volvo XC90 and the 2021 Cadillac XT6. Sticker prices are nearly identical with prices with a price difference that will be negligible at purchase time when options are considered. Buyers will need to rely on features and must-haves when it comes to choosing either the 2021 Volvo XC90 over the 2021 Cadillac XT6. Seating is a hot topic with these crossover SUVs and a primary reason for purchase. Where the seating in the Volvo comes a little short, the fully-equipped tech might make up for it. Seating is comfortable in both models, with the 2021 Cadillac XT6 offering a full-sized third row. Equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections the tech in the XT6 ensures that every passenger on-board is a happy camper. When it comes to horsepower, the Cadillac XT6 runs at 235 hp @ 5000 rpm which may seem a little moderate for a 7-passenger vehicle. The Volvo XC90 on the other hand bolts out of the gate at 250 hp @ 5500 rpm. Both models offer front-wheel drive in the base model, with an all-wheel-drive option. The Cadillac has a 9-speed automatic transmission, while the Volvo's transmission is 8-speed automatic. For fuel efficiency, the Cadillac XT6 offers a fuel capacity of 19 gallons, with a mileage of 399 city miles and 513 highway miles. The Volvo XC90 has an 18.8-gallon tank with an almost identical fuel economy of 394.8 city miles and is a little better on the highway with 564 highway miles on a full tank.

For safety features, both models offer state-of-the-art technology that nearly drives the vehicle for you. The Volvo XC90 offers driver-assisted tech that includes a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Cross Traffic notification. Drivers enjoy City Safety Collision Avoidance Technology and pilot assist with active cruise control, in addition to Volvo's now standard rear collision warnings. A Lane Keep Aid in the Volvo also keeps the driver on track in between cities, or even neighborhoods for shorter drives. Collision protection is found in Volvo's Whiplash Protection System as well as its front, side, overhead, and knee airbags, holding up Volvo's reputation of safety. That said, the Cadillac XT6 is not short on airbags, with driver-side, passenger, front-head, rear-head, and front side airbags. The Cadillac is also equipped with child safety locks, lane departure warnings, and lane-keeping assist features similar to Volvo's lane aid. 

Both models have a banquet of features and options to offer any consumer in the luxury SUV market. Neither is better than the other, it's a matter of personal taste when it comes to the final decision. The Cadillac is known for accommodating more passengers, the Volvo on the other hand offers an elegant and intuitive ride that might be slightly more elevated in features than those found in the Cadillac.
