A Quick View of the Chevy Blazer

Between 1969 and 1995, General Motors’ Chevrolet brand referred to every SUV model it churned out as a “Chevy Blazer.” Now each model is assigned its own name. Having started out with a very utilitarian appearance, today’s “Blazer” has a very streamlined, attractive design that’s complemented by stunning paint colors.

New colors for 2023 include “Radiant Red Tincoat,” “Sterling Gray Metallic” and “Copper Bronze Metallic.” This year’s Blazer design is more distinctive than in previous years, having been designed with a little sportier grille, front fascia and daytime running lamps. The newly styled, sleek LED headlamps and bold taillamps are now standard. The Midnight/Sport edition features black roof rails, black bowtie emblems and mirror caps, black grille and grille bar, and 18” black-painted aluminum wheels.

The standard 60/40 second-row split-folding seat and sliding rear seat in this sporty midsize SUV provide seating for up to five people and 64.2 cubit feet of cargo space. According to a cars.usnews.com review of the 2022 Blazer, the front seats were comfortable but the rear seats were short on head space when seating adults. Some customers deemed the 30.5 cubic feet of the cargo room behind the rear seats inadequate and the interior materials subpar.

The stylish 10.2-inch full-color HD touch screen in the 2023 model provides connectivity, infotainment and communication technology. It includes standard audio streaming Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless smartphone charging. Put your favorite smartphone apps on it. Get the available myChevrolet Mobile App and navigation, if desired.

When driving on challenging road surfaces, you can turn the dial of the Driver Mode Selector to help your vehicle’s performance. Other safety features include anti-lock brakes, stability control, pretensioners and a security system. Airbags protect from front, side, overhead and knee impacts.

The Blazer rides, turns and brakes well. It has a nine-speed automatic transmission and up to five drive modes. Under the hood, the four-wheel drive Blazer has 2.0L turbo standard on the 2LT, 3LT and on the Premier. This SUV delivers 228 horsepower, 258 pounds per foot of torque, and about 29 miles per gallon on the highway. The 3.6L V6 version delivers 308 horsepower, 270 pounds per foot of torque, and about 27 miles per gallon on the highway.

Depending on the trim and other factors, you’ll pay between $35,000 and $46,000 when you get a new Chevy Blazer.
