Why Drivers Love the 2021 Mazda CX-5

It doesn't take long to realize why the 2021 Mazda CX-5 is winning over drivers from all lanes — with athletic, capable handling wrapped in a sleek, stylish body and an affordable price to boot, this small SUV crossover meets the needs of many. And that's just the surface. There's a lot more to like about the new 2021 CX-5, especially when it comes to new features and trim options. There's a lot to love about the new 2021 Mazda CX-5, read on to find out more!

Drivers of previous CX-5 years will notice that, in addition to quieter handling, the 2021 comes equipped with a new upgraded central display screen. The now-wider (10.5") screen comes with Mazda's latest infotainment interface, which offers better visuals for both the apps and backup camera. Like the previous generation, it comes with Apple CarPlay, Mazda's sound apps and navigation. It's still not a touchscreen, but many drivers will find this makes it easier to adjust settings while still keeping their eyes on the road. And by forgoing the touchscreen technology once again, Mazda is also able to keep the screen situated in easy view high up on the dashboard (compared to most modern infotainment touchscreens, which are much lower and require more space).

As for safety features, the 2021 CX-5 keeps many of the same ones that earned it a spot as the only small SUV to snag top Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awards back in 2018. In addition to features like lane keeping assist, adaptive front lights, and smart brake support, the new 2021 model takes things even further into the safety zone by making pedestrian detection standard (the car can sense pedestrians in its path when going over 6mph, which needless to say, is very impressive). It's also worth noting that the top tier trim Signature trim also comes with a 360-degree monitor and smart rear braking.

Regarding trims, the 2021 CX-5 is not totally a "one size fits all," of course, The vehicle comes in seven different trims: Sport, Touring, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Carbon Edition Turbo, plus the top-tier Grand Touring Reserve and Signature options. The Carbon Edition is the only brand-new trim for this year, and the biggest difference is that drivers can choose between the regular Carbon Edition and Carbon Edition Turbo. As the name suggests, the key thing to note here is that one comes with an optional 2.5 turbocharged engine (with up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque). This same powerful engine is available on the upper trims, so the Carbon Edition is the more affordable way to get it for drivers who don't care about or want all the additional luxury features.

But one of the greatest things about the new CX-5 is the price. It's hard to find this amount of style in an SUV or any kind, especially with a starting msrp of $25,370 and going up to over $37,000 for the top tier. And with so many features now coming standard, this is easily one of the best deals currently on the market for small to midsize SUV crossovers. The CX-5 gets about 25 mph in the city and 31 mph on the highway, so the fuel economy is decent as well. Drivers looking for additional savings can check out Mazda's various loyalty programs (between $500 and $750 toward their vehicle cost) and their Military Appreciation program (a $500 bonus).
