Samsung's first-ever 5G Galaxy smartphone is here! The Samsung Galaxy 10 5G was recently revealed during the unveiling ceremony for the Galaxy 10 lineup. Analysts can’t stop talking about what this new 5G phone and network mean for the cellular market. In short, 5G technology is the game changer we’ve been waiting for, and the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will be the first major phone to capitalize on these blazing-fast networks. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is modeled after the Galaxy S10+, the largest of the three currently available S10 phones. The Galaxy 10 5G gets a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen, which is 0.3 inches larger than the display on the S10+. Next, the triple-lens camera on the back of the S10+ is getting upgraded to a four-lens camera, and both the front- and rear-facing cameras will have enhanced abilities to replicate depth of field in photographs. The S10 5G is getting a better battery, and users can expect the new S10 5G to strike a nice middle ground between smartphone and tablet; not as big as the Note series, but absolutely optimal for gaming and videos.

Of course, the best part of the upcoming Galaxy S10 5G is its compatibility with the 5G cellular networks that are rolling out now in cities throughout the United States. Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and others are already investing in 5G technology, which has the potential to top out at data speeds of 10 GB per second - literally one hundred times faster than current industry-standard 4G networks. With speeds like that, it’s no wonder why many are referring to 5G as “wireless fiber,” a reference to blazing-fast (but hard to acquire) fiber-optic networks. With the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G on a certified 5G network, it will likely be possible to download a two-hour movie in just 3.6 seconds - a huge leap over the 6 minutes it would normally take on typical 4G networks. Not only is this great for smartphones, but wireless phone plans might soon be replacing traditional internet services offered by companies like Cox and Comcast.

What else do we know about the Samsung S10 5G? It will have fast wireless charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare for reverse charging. It will come with 8GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage space, and no microSD slot. It will feature rear cameras of 16 and 12 megapixels and a 10MP front-facing camera. Security features will include an embedded fingerprint scanner and cutting-edge face recognition software. Its octa-core processor is expected to handle any apps with ease.

Samsung has yet to announce how much this phone will cost, although industry analysts expect the cost to eclipse $1,500. The Samsung Galaxy Fold (which was also announced alongside the S10 lineup) will cost $1,980 upon its rollout, and a 5G version of the Fold is expected to follow for more than $2,000. This new 5G technology will not be an inexpensive phone, but count on Samsung, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other cellular providers making some attractive offers for willing buyers - perhaps even bundling 5G and streaming services that might entice people to cut ties with cable.
