Dollywood

When people think of Tennessee, Dolly Parton is one of the first things that comes to mind. The country music legend has been a major player in the entertainment industry for decades, and her theme park—Dollywood—has been a major tourist attraction since its opening in 1986.

Dollywood is part theme park, part water park, and part entertainment complex. Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the park offers a wide variety of activities, rides, and attractions, as well as musical performances by Parton and other top country acts that often include fireworks. The park also features live performances throughout the day and the World of Color fountain show.

At the heart of the park is the Timber Canyon section, where one can find thrilling roller coasters such as the Lightning Rod and Wild Eagle to more mild rides such as the Cat Walks, a carousel, and even a few Christmas-themed rides. In addition to its rides, the park also boasts an array of eateries including a variety of classic Americana options such as burgers, chicken fingers, and even Dolly Parton’s own Dixie Stampede dinner show.

The summer months are when Dollywood really sparkles. From May through August, additional shows, rides, and attractions are available, including late night shows like the “Summer of Music” event and the “Mountain Music weekend,” which features acts from all over country music. And during the fall, the park features its popular “Great Pumpkin LumiNights” show, as well as festivals such as the National Gospel & Harvest Celebration, Rock the Smokies, and the Festival of Nations.

Dollywood is a family-friendly destination that has something for everyone. It’s a great way to escape the everyday and experience the southern charm that only Dolly Parton can bring. So be sure to check out the attractions at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and get ready to have the time of your life.
