The Refreshed and Refined 2020 Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 first hit the market in 2017 and has been a strong contender in the luxury SUV market ever since. Its elegant exterior design, stylish interior, convenient tech features, roomy seating (for up to seven people!) and smooth handling make it an ideal car for both families and individuals who love to ride in style and space. The 2020 Audi Q7 isn't a total makeover, but it does feel like a refreshed, more modern vehicle. The 2020 version comes with a variety of new features that are sure to keep it both relevant in a sea of increasingly advanced vehicle tech, not to mention make it a popular pick for the next year.

Those familiar with the older models will notice upgraded differences in the vehicle right away by looking at its exterior. The new 2020 Audi Q7 is a touch more muscular and gets a facelift with a wider, less angled grille. International editions of the Q7 also get the brand's new LED matrix headlights, but these have not yet been approved for use in the U.S. (Audi has, however, said that the new lights may be available soon on certain trims once they are approved). Nevertheless, it's on the inside that the upgrades really become tangible. An upgraded infotainment system with dual touchscreens brings the Audi Q7 fully into the new decade, along with a sleek new dashboard and center console that give the car a drastically different look than previous models. The 2020 also keeps the Integrated navigation, Audi Virtual Cockpit, and wireless charging that first appeared on its 2019 predecessor.

As for safety, advanced safety features like lane departure warning, parking sensors and collision warning also receive only slight upgrades and come standard. Those who have not been driving the more recent Q7s will be particularly impressed with the collision warning system, as it operates even at slower speeds and can detect pedestrians more readily than a lot of other warning systems on the market. It also comes with automatic braking. Also seen on the 2020 version is the Convenience package, which is optional on the base trim but standard on the higher ones. This package enhances the car's safety even further by adding blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems, along with some nice ambient lighting to enhance the vehicle's luxury.

Additionally, the new Q7 gets some upgrades and new options under the hood, though all still come with All Wheel Drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Drivers now enjoy faster acceleration from the two primary engine choices, both upgrades from previous years. First, there's the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. For even faster acceleration there's also the turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engine, with 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Drivers familiar with last year's model will note that it also offered a V6 engine, but that one was not turbocharged and did not come with as much power. Speaking of power, the 2020 also comes with a third option: the 500-horsepower V8 that comes on the SQ7 edition.

As for trims, the 2020 Q7 comes in three: the Premium, Premium Plus and the top tier Prestige. The base Premium comes standard with an impressive amount of features, including LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, 10-speaker surround sound, hands-free liftgate, power-folding third row and leather upholstery. Building on that, the Premium Plus adds the Q7's safety-minded Convenience Package as well as a 360-degree parking camera and an upgraded Bose audio system. It also comes with additional options for comfort and safety. The Prestige meanwhile takes things to the next level with features like adaptive air suspension, sound-reducing glass, a head-up display, soft-closing doors and upgraded ambient lighting. It also comes with some crazy luxury options like massaging and ventilated seats.

There's also the highly anticipated, high-performance SQ7, which in addition to having a different engine, is essentially a modified version of the vehicle and comes with a slew of subtle tweaks like larger wheels, quad exhaust tips and more air intakes. Whereas the Premium starts at $54,800 and goes up to a starting price of $71,200 for the Prestige, the SQ7 is expected to start around $70,000 at most dealerships. Audi doesn't usually offer much in the way of deals and special buying incentives, but they do offer special rates, no security deposit and lower credit history requirements for recent graduates and military members.
