Kia’s all-new electric vehicle (EV) is set to make its world debut. The Kia EV6 is the South Korean automaker’s first dedicated electric model and provides a glimpse into what future Kia electric models may look like.
The EV6 is based upon Kia’s unique new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This platform provides enhanced performance and charge times, while also allowing the vehicle to offer a range of more than 310 miles. The vehicle is powered by an all-new electric powertrain, with an electric motor driving the rear axle and a second motor driving the front wheels.
The electric powertrain is also efficient, thanks to Kia’s new electric air cooling system. Air is drawn in through the front grille and directed over a radiator that cools the batteries and helps to reduce noise and vibration associated with an electric powertrain.
On the outside, the EV6 has a sporty, coupe-like design with a sloping roofline and flush-mounted door handles. The vehicle also features muscular proportions, accompanied by unique details including a “tiger nose” grille and a light signature that extends from the headlights to the side mirrors.
One of the highlights of the EV6 is its advanced cabin, which features a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and Kia’s latest Voice Recognition and Driver Monitoring technologies. An Intelligent Interaction Display in the center console also allows passengers to customize settings and control music, navigation, and other functions.
Kia has also integrated UVO Connect, its new suite of connected services, which allows drivers to remotely monitor and control their EV6. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with Kia’s latest ADAS safety systems, including Lane Following Assist, Intersection Turning Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The Kia EV6 marks the start of a new era for Kia, and it indicates a bright future for the automaker’s electric vehicle lineup. With its advanced powertrain, cutting-edge cabin technology, and array of driver assistance systems, the Kia EV6 sets a new standard for the EV segment.
