Compact SUVs make up some of the best-selling cars in North America, not to mention many other parts of the world. And it's easy to see why. Spacious but not too big, practical for both cities and country roads, stylish without being gaudy -- compact SUVs have exactly what a lot of individuals and families want in a car. Deals on these types of vehicles vary every year between different models and dealerships, but the good news is that they're usually advertised well in advance. For those looking to get a new compact SUV in 2020, there are already some hot deals to choose from for the Honda CR-V, the Ford Escape and the Toyota RAV4.Â
The Honda CR-V has been one of the top-selling compact SUVs of the past several years, and the new 2020 version retains the features that have built it into such a favorite. It has a reasonable fuel economy with the ability to accelerate quickly, more cargo space than most of its competitors and roomy seating. As an added bonus for the 2020 model, the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine now comes standard, as do all of the advanced driver safety features. The starting MSRP for a 2020 CR-V ranges between $25,050 and $34,750, depending largely on the trim level (the LX, EX, EX-L and top tier Touring). That said, most dealerships are offering great financing options for as low as $219 a month and zero down at signing. Likewise, the Honda Military Appreciation Offer offers military members $500 towards any new Honda. The Honda College Graduate program offers similar savings to recent graduates.
The Ford Escape is a beloved compact SUV for similar reasons, such as spacious and comfortable seating and great handling on a variety of terrain. Those looking to get a new 2020 model also have a variety of driving options at hand, right down to the engine (which now comes as a 1.5 L 3-cylinder, 2.0 L 4-cylinder, or 2.5 L 4-cylinder setup). Along with this, drivers have five trim levels to choose from: the S, SE, SE Sport, SEL and hybrid-option Titanium trim. The starting MSRP for a new Ford Escape ranges between $24,885 and $36,835, accordingly. That said, current buyers are eligible for 0.6% financing for 60 months, along with $1,500 cash back on certain trims. It's also worth pointing out that drivers of the hybrid Ford Escape trim may also be eligible for tax breaks in their state. Ford also offers military and student discount programs, though the specifics vary by dealership.
A third great compact SUV option is the Toyota RAV4. Storage space is plentiful, and the seating is as roomy as most compact SUVs. But where the RAV4 really shines is handling. The latest versions are a bit lower to the ground than their predecessors, making for better handling and grip on varying types of terrain. The 2020 now comes standard with a 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine, coming with 203 hp and responsive acceleration. Drivers have an impressive six trim levels to choose from: the LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, Limited and TRD Off-Road (best suited for those who do a lot of dirt road and back country driving). Like the CR-V and Ford Escape, the RAV4 is also among the more affordable compact SUVs. The starting MSRP for a new RAV4 begins at $25,950 and goes up to $35,280. Many Toyota dealerships are also offering 0% financing on flexible 36 to 60-month terms. Military members are also eligible for up to a $750 rebate, as are recent college graduates.Â
