What does a native Australian surfer do when he’s in sunny California and realizes there’s scarcely a sheepskin boot store in the States? He founds a sheepskin boot company in California, of course! At least that’s what Brian Smith did back in the 1970s. Let’s look at UGG.
Brian Smith and his friend Doug Jensen founded UGG in Santa Monica, California in 1978. After seeing poor sales during the first year, Mr. Jenson handed his share of the company over to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith spent nearly two decades successfully building the brand he had envisioned. He sold UGG to Deckers Brands in 1995 for $14.6 million.
In 2003, UGG sheepskin boot sales went through the roof and became a style staple of celebrities after Oprah promoted them on her television show as one of “Oprah’s Favorite Things.” The brand went international that same year. UGG built its first brick-and-mortar store in 2006.
In 2012, UGG opened its first standalone UGG for Men store in New York. Overall sales reached more than $1 billion that year. UGG launched its home goods department in 2013. This new department included blankets, pillows, rugs, and other home items. Collaborating with Pixar in 2015, UGG started selling Disney character-themed boots.
Women can choose from classic, weather, rain, snow, and fashion boots. Today’s UGG sheepskin boots come in short, tall, and mini. Some of them come in colors or patterns. Naturally, there are also sneakers, moccasins, sandals, slippers, heels, and so on. And that’s just the women’s shoe department at UGG.
UGG carries women’s tops, bottoms, sweaters, cardigans, loungewear, robes, sleepwear, and many other types of clothing. UGG even has faux fur vests. Plus-size women can find what they need at UGG. Shop by collection, by what’s on sale, or by some other criteria.
Men can find the men’s version of many of the aforementioned items, plus cold-weather accessories. These accessories include all-weather bucket hats, wide-cuffed ribbed hats, knit hats, knit beanies, ribbed scarves, knit scarves, knit gloves, sherpa gloves, and sherpa gloves with palm patches.
Kids, toddlers, and babies can also rock a pair of UGG sheepskin boots and/or the many other boots and shoes offered by the company. The cuddly baby Bixbee booties may remind you of baby bear feet. Some of the kids’ boots have sequins all over them or bows down the back. You’ll also love the cute children’s faux fur cold weather hat and glove selections.
Shop the sale page any time. You’ll save over 30% there on your purchase. UGG gives you free standard shipping on full-price item orders. You’ll also get free shipping if you are purchasing a mixed bag of sale-priced and full-priced items. However, you’ll pay $10 for shipping on orders containing just sale-priced items.
