Highlights of the New Samsung Z Flip

Thanks to Samsung, "flip phone" has a whole new meaning with the new Z Flip. The latest state of the art offering joins the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series of models. There's plenty to love about the new Samsung Z Flip, including the obvious clamshell folding design that fits conveniently and easily into the palm of a hand. Samsung has a lot to prove after last years foldable smartphone problems with the Galaxy Fold, and it's clear that they knew it. Read on to find out more about the features and price of the new Samsung Z Flip.

The Samsung Z Flip is able to open and close in half, much like a make-up mirror or compact, thanks to an Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) display. This foldable phone has one main display, similar in look and function to the S smartphone when opened, although it is a little taller. The main display is an impressive 6.7 inches when fully opened. When closed, it has a small 1.06-inch panel that gives owners quick access to some basic info such as battery and time. The hinge also allows for “flex mode,” which lets owners watch video on the top half of the screen with the phone propping itself up in an “L” configuration. In fact, users can lock the Z Flip into any angle between around 70 and 110 degrees, which is very convenient.

The Z Flip is going to be available in black and purple color options, with plenty of power. The Z Flip is outfitted with 256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM and Snapdragon 855+ processor. There are two rear cameras on the rear, which is also the front when the phone is folded, and one in the front. The two rear cameras are 12 megapixel, and one is an ultra-wide camera. The camera in the front is a 10 megapixel. The Z Flip is powered by a 3300mAh battery, which supports wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and 15W wired charging.

Unlike the new Samsung Galaxy S20 models, the Z Flip is 4G only, and will go on sale February 14th for $1,380. It appears that the Samsung Z Flip is available only through AT&T and Sprint, at least for a limited time. This is competition of the Motorola Razr, which is sold exclusively through Verizon in the United States. Consumers who definitely want 5G should consider one of the Samsung Galaxy S20 models. Samsung.com is obviously the best place to go for ordering information and the latest deals on the Samsung Z Flip and the Galaxy S20 line of smartphones.
