I'd planned on buying a Samsung Note8, but left the store with a Google Pixel 2 instead. Why? For starters, the Pixel 2 is way cheaper. The Pixel's specs aren't quite as impressive as the latest Samsung or iPhone, but its actual performance is very close. The Pixel 2 is powerful and multitasks with ease, and the baseline 64GB option is more than large enough for storing pics, music files and video clips. Plus, all photos and videos are stored online in FULL RESOLUTION to Google Photos! The Pixel 2's battery delivers seven hours of use after just 15 minutes of charging, which means I've never had to worry about running out of juice. The Pixel 2's Google Assistant is incredibly helpful, too, as you'd expect from the world's dominant search engine provider. The Pixel 2 isn't quite as sexy as the more expensive smartphones, but it's a performance-oriented beast for folks who enjoy saving money.
